De bundel artikelen is voortgekomen uit het Gronings-Deens-Engelse project Authority and Persuasion: the Role of Commonplaces in Western Europe (c.1450-c.1800). In het project is de betekenis van de term loci communes verbreed naar alle middelen om te overtuigen, via teksten, visuele bronnen, theater en muziek. Inhoud onder andere:
